If I wear Prêt-à-Cocktail.../Si usara Prêt-à-Cocktail
After trying to get things together for a while, here it is ,finally!.. Casual Goddess, my first mini collection inspired on the prints of the fabrics, the tropico weather and the chic Mediterranean style. Its a limited collection therefore, there are only 2 garments per size and per style and really few belts that are also designed by me... we'll see if Salvadoran women dare to feel free and fresh during the casual afternoon get-together.

If I wear $5 shoes / Si usara zapatos de $5
While I was living in Spain my sister introduced me to these amazing basic/casual shoes that come in the complete rainbow color range, definitely the new Converse but in 9 euros. The brand is Victoria, they have made the crossover from the granny crowd to the young and hip crowd, they are the Keds of Spain.
Now that I’m on the other side of the pond, few or better said almost no one wears this kind of shoe!!!! But what is my surprise today?!?!?! Walking down a mall I rarely go to, I see this bran that was really popular while I was younger: CHIC by Velinda! is the Salvadorian and 5 DOLAR version of the Victoria AND Keds!!!!!!!!! I saw them I got them because I didn’t have the all black version.
For me they’re like the little black dress in a casual/Sunday outfit way! So here are the shoes and the looks they would go perfect with.

If I wear Jimmy Choo / Si usara Jimmy Choo
I would not only be drooling for these amazing treasures but I would also make sure to mark November 14th on my forehead so my feet would feel pampered this winter!!! One of the shoe Gods, Jimmy Choo, is set to work with H&M this season… how lucky are all those people who have H&M in their countries?...or better yet I would say people who work at H&M are even luckier to rule those people’s world! .. once again chapeau to H&M strategy.. It just gets better and better!

If I were to keep my eyes on something / Si tuviera que mantener mis ojos en algo
I would definitely make sure to keep them on Michael Angel, amazing aussie designer who recently launched his on-line shop and is set to open the spring/summer ‘10 womenswear collections at New York Fashion Week… what an honor! I’m pretty sure he’s going to create some juicy things to talk about…
These are some of his fall 09 pieces… strong, fresh and funky… they all reminded me of the amazing aurora boreali

If I were Nina Ricci… / Si yo fuera Nina Ricci…
I would be bragging about these amazing boots designed for fall/winter 09/10… how cool are they?? Its like drag queen gone beyond chic!
I would wear them with a tailored jacket, white shirt and a pair of light denim jeans… AND I would make sure to practice my walk before even consider going out in public… we don’t want some tragic accidents that would overshadow the outfit, right?

If I wear see-through clothes… / Si usara ropa transparente…
Not only because I was away it means that my mind wasn’t working, thankfully it just kept on going and going… and I got a bit fixated with the mosaic post…. I was brainstorming about mosaic which lead me to light and I finally got it today, playing with my old mate Photoshop I got a print and I would go craaaazy if I could get it printed on some… I’m thinking feather light, a breeze under a wavy see-through fabric…. silk chiffon?… mmmm nice!!!!! And for the shoes I got inspired on rubber bands… the color and the texture would make an interesting contrast… I’m nude colors lately

If I were back… / Si estuviera de regreso…
My blog has been on pause for almost 3 months now, but I’m glad to be back doing what I love the most. I had been looking for a blazer with shoulder pads but unfortunately the ones I found where like… blah…UNTIL a couple of days ago! While coming back home, I spent some time chez my aunt, I was staying in the guest room and what is my surprise?!?!?! I found some of her clothes from the 90’s!... Its like having a vintage shop in the comfort of your own house!!!!!!!!!!! how lucky was I?!?!?! I would say A LOT! I loooooved this blazer from the moment I unzipped that bag… Its just the perfect size, the perfect color and the perfect shape and perfectly sitting there waiting for me!

If I were a Kid / Si fuera un niño…
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always found helium balloons amazing and fun, just like a world of happiness! Not only because they fly but also because when you gather a lot of them they look like a huge marshmallow or colored bubbles… I remember I saw a Mithbusters chapter once, where they blew up more than 500 balloons with helium to prove if it was possible to make a little kid fly with it… and it worked!!!! Can you imagine how lucky that little girl was?!?!?! Anyways, thanks to a friend in the filmmaking business I discovered there’s a new film inspired in helium balloons.
Up is the new Walt Disney and Pixar animated movie that recently became the very first animated film to open the Cannes Festival in the whole festival’s history, it has great reviews so far. So I watched the trailer again and discovered a world of inspiration: inspiring shapes with the balloons; inspiring colors with the color of the balloons, the light through those balloons and some animals in the forest, an inspiring feeling with the idea that you can fly! For me its just a huge world of happiness that can be brought into a concept… playful, fluffy and fun volumes, colors and shapes…

If I wear H&M / Si vistiera H&M
Since 2004 H&M has worked with Comme des Garçons, Roberto Cavalli, Viktor and Rolf, Madonna, Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld and now for the second time Matthew Williamson, the English fashion designer that is bringing change with his feminine bright-colored collection. I like it but I’m addicted to the ad. I think the concept is really good plus the song is great. If you like it as well it seems is going to be on sale May 18th on iTunes..

If I made my dreams come true/ Si hiciera mis sueños realidad
These shapes and styles are the ones I love and dream of the most NOW. But I’m totally crazy about the shinny-multicolored pairs, even though the shape is not one I could call cool, but I’ll keep my eyes on that color… I have a feeling about it…
If I wanted to feel proud, I would be Salvadoran! / Si quisiera sentirme orgullosa, sería Salvadoreña
Today I learned that the well-known Salvadoran Advertising Agency APEX/BBDO won their second CLIO! Which is one of the most important awards in the advertising world...
2 news that made my day an even a happier day!
If I wanted to be cool... I would be Salvadoran!
While reading the Wallpaper magazine May 2009 edition over my morning coffee I see this familiar face, not on an article but an Ad!... You know how in El Salvador everyone knows everyone or at least you know who she/he is? Well that is the case of Claudia and Harry Washington, both Salvadorans, designers and entrepreneurs. I've heard about them but never had the chance to see their work. So I find them on an Bernhardt Design Ad, with the copy "Global Edition.San Salvador". My reaction was sort of the following:.. this?.... San Salvador!?!?!?! WT..?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?! So it was between surprise, happiness and proud to be honest!!!!! so I goggled it to see what it was about. And this is what I found! an interview of them during La Fiera dil Mobile in Milan, being part of the Bernhardt Design team with their furniture creations. La Fiera dil Mobile (Milan International Furniture Fair) is THE design event of the W O R L D!. I lived in Milan and what I learned is that if you're there is either because you're someone or you are on the way of becoming someone!. I feel so happy and PROUD that Salvadoran designers are crossing the borders of a small if not tinny country to start being on the global design scene, this kind of examples makes me think... Salvadorans are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I wear shoulder pads / Si usara hombreras
By now Balmain’s big shoulders jackets are worn by few and wished by all. The reasons? why wouldn’t it be? its just a perfect… its THE jacket!... sigh…
So, thanks to the modern and edgy designer, Christophe Decarnin, pads are going to be on everyone’s shoulders for a couple of seasons...

If my inspiration had sound…
I want it to do endless things with it: play it in the back of photo shoot, a swimwear catwalk, a girly with a rocky twist collection… anything!!! Such a sexy, sexy and playful song!. And lets not forget his look, I mean I could wear that jacket yesterday, today, tomorrow and the day after!... I looooove it! Listen to it completly, the ending part is my favorite...

If I were married…
We had to do a S/S 09 Collection for a sports brand and right away I picked Adidas for different and personal reasons. One of them was that I admire the loyalty some people have with the brand. I see Adidas more than just a brand, is a complete life style and philosophy!!!, and every time you wear a garment you are making a statement with it.
So I started analyzing that concept: loyalty, when all of the sudden the light came to my mind. For me loyalty a is acommitment, is something you decide for how long you want it, when you want it, how you want it and so on... just like a tattoo.
Tattoos are like stories, they’re symbolic of the important moments in your life, they’re statements and with them you can tell people what you are and what you believe in. Tattoos are like marriage it’s a lifelong commitment... is for life, is until death due us part. So that is how I see Adidas, a brand that people are loyal to. Loyal for life, loyal till death.
Here are some of the proposals, click on them so you can see them more in detail.

If I were the Nutcraker...
I was very inspired by the shape of the Nutcracker, its made out of wood therefore has almost no movement. I love the proportion and shape it has, so I was aiming for a very structured and stiff feeling with a ballet-fluffiness contrast playing with some layers and military details... I love the playful result. And if you're wondering why I left some of the sketches uncolored its just because I love to see the plain shapes sometimes...
For the accessories I was inspired by the roll of what the Nutcracker is in the play, a soldier. I experimented with the shape of the hat and these are my babies, the accessories I designed.
For the bags, I decided that I wanted to do my own version of the Lady Dior bag, trying to keep it as it always has been, classic.

If I wear Basics…
If I bow to David Bowie…
I got hundreds of … just never ending amount of images that in a way reflected the 70’s mood. They went from furniture , clothes to prints and shapes. Me and the next button were used to each other for a while since the images were all so.. blah! But there was one that popped out right away… Mr. David Bowie or shall I say Ziggy Stardust, his alter ego. I love his glam rock, flamboyant, androgynous look!. I think his Life on Mars (1973) is really inspiring from the cover to the shape and color of his jacket (having in mind that the blazers are one of the it garments for this summer), the make-up… and just the color contrast! enough reasons to keep on being a timeless inspiration for style like for this DIMEPIECE spring/summer 09 look… I would definitely mix the jacket with this look.

If I were my sister…
Usually we bring along our best friends or a book to kill the time… but I think while we become tanned goddesses, we can start preparing ourselves for next winter!… Yes, what you just read. Be part of the new trend and bring along some needles and cool thick yarns so you can start doing some stuff for this winter. My sister came up with this idea not long ago, so if I was my sister I would start knitting NOW if I want to have something ready for late fall.
I would do a round scarf, which I think are going to be big this winter. I would do them that big that they would go around the neck up to 5 times, to give a layer feeling. And round so you could also wear it like a cool bolero I would also make myself some extra, extra… EXTRA long mittens to wear them crunched during fall with short-sleeve tops. And I would do some long necklaces to use during the whole season!

If I were on a designers-olny fantasy shopping spree
I found a Cropped crystal tulle vest by Derercuny BUT instead of the black tank-top I would wear it with white!!!!!!, a Gerogette Belt Pack Trousers by Ann Demeulemeester and some amazing Chloë violet sandals.
If I were on a fantasy shopping spree…
P.S: Have a Happy Easter / Feliz Semana Santa / Buona Pasqua / Joyeuses Pâques!!!!!!! See you all after!

If I were a stylist…
So, while I was doing some research, Playmobil and Lego people came to my mind!. They have a particular removable hair made out of plastic, therefore is stiff AND shinny, so cool!.
There is something about them that captivated me and made me think of a really cool idea for a haircut, which I'm still defining, but it also made me think of photo shoot mood!!!!!.
I’m thinking over-sized, plastic, hard, shinny wigs and hats on an almost mannequin-looking, shinny, white skin mmmmm some really structured/geometric-shaped clothes. I’m thinking short blazers with big shoulder pads! :-) and loooots of plastic, plastic, plastic!...
If I wear sequins…
So to “make my dream come true” I decided to do some outfits... I think sequins can turn a simple outfit in to a chic, different outfit..
P.S.: I’ve moved places and aaaall of my drawing kits are in boxes, far away from where I am now :(… I wish I could have had them with me to do these outfits… oh well…. Tant pis!

If I wear a high-end designer’s summer outfit today….
But from time to time, I have to admit, there’s some designer’s garments I would LOVE (eh and dream obviously) to own. And since I’m about to go on a trip, I’ve been thinking constantly what would I wear? and how would I wear it? That’s how my new favorite Latino designer came up to my mind. The young Colombian designer, Esteban Cortazar, has been in charge of giving a whole new fresh look to the collections chez Emanuel Ungaro, since the launch of his first collection in F/W 08/09
I absolutely love the simple mix of the chic skirt and the casual t-shirt. I think it gives it a funky contrast, easy-chic look that I could wear during the day with this Thong-strap wrap sandal from Urban Outfitters.
Or if I want to keep on dreaming, I would wear it up with this Alexander McQueen’s amazing open toes and open back short leather boots.
O si quisiera seguir soñando, lo vestiría con estas maravillosas botas de cuero con punta abierta de Alexander McQueen
Again, I just looooove the idea of those items all together... *sigh*
P.S.: If you have time, read about the S/S 09 prints inspiration Esteban Cortazar.. such a looooovely story!!! / Si tienen tiempo, lee sobre la inspiración del S/S 09 de Esteban Cortazar es una historia tan encantadora!!!!
